April 28th - National Day of Mourning

On April 28, Nova Scotia joins the rest of Canada and more than 80 countries worldwide to remember those who died, were injured or became ill at work. It offers employees and employers the opportunity to publicly renew their commitment to improve health and safety in the workplace.

The numbers are staggering. In 2008, more than 8,000 Nova Scotians were injured seriously enough at work they couldn’t return the next day. That’s more than the combined populations of Lunenburg, Digby and Wolfville.

Tragically, 29 people died.
