Consultation on Medical Aid - General Principles Program Policy

Based on the analysis of stakeholder input provided as part of the development of the 2009 Program Policy Agenda, it has been determined there are gaps in our existing program policy framework related to the theme of entitlement and general principles.  Addressing these program policy gaps will better position the WCB to successfully respond, in the future, to more complex adjudicative program policy topics.  One of the gaps identified was the lack of a “Medical Aid – General Principles” program policy.

Stakeholder consultation is a critical step in the Workers’ Compensation Board’s program policy development process.  The WCB is now kicking off stage two consultation on the medical aid general principles policy topic through the release of a program policy background paper and draft new program policy entitled “Medical Aid – General Principles”.  The purpose of the paper and draft policy is to provide stakeholders with an overview of the proposed new program policy and the supporting rationale.  We hope this paper encourages thought-provoking discussion and leads to feedback for improving the WCB’s new “Medical Aid – General Principles” program policy.

If you have comments on the draft program policy we are very interested to hear them.  The consultation period for this program policy issue concludes December 4, 2009.  Please review the background paper and draft program policy, and provide your written feedback by December 4, 2009 to:
