WCB Wins Health Innovator Award

October 16, 2008 – HALIFAX, NS - The Workers' Compensation Board of Nova Scotia (WCB) has been named a Health Innovator for the second year in a row. The award was presented by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce as part of its annual Healthy Workplace Award competition.

"For us, as an employer, awards are about more than getting a trophy," said WCB CEO, Nancy MacCready-Williams. "They become part of who you are. And employees take pride in being part of something they themselves had a hand in implementing."

The WCB was chosen in acknowledgement of its fully implemented, innovative and comprehensive wellness program that includes a full-time health and wellness coordinator dedicated solely to improving the health and well-being of WCB employees.

The Healthy Workplace Awards were handed out during a special Chamber luncheon on October 14.
