Important information regarding prescription drug coverage

Are you receiving prescription medication to treat a workplace injury?

Starting September 3, 2013, the Workers’ Compensation Board of Nova Scotia (WCB NS) is making changes to the PayDirect program for brand name medications. The WCB requires that generic medications be used when they are available. If there is a medical reason why you need a brand-name medication, your doctor must submit an Exemption Request Form and include an explanation.

If you are currently taking brand-name medications for a work related injury and have concerns about this change, please talk to your doctor.

If you have any questions, please contact your WCB NS Case Worker at 1.800.870.3331.
