WHAT:            Response to postal service disruption at Canada Post

CUPW workers at Canada Post have begun a series of rotating strikes. Like many organizations, the WCB is working to minimize the impact of any mail service disruption on workers and employers across Nova Scotia.

Our main priority is to ensure workers and their families are able to continue to receive benefits during this time, with minimal inconvenience and delay.

To that end, in partnership with a number of institutions across the province, 16 distribution centres will be operational on Tuesday, June 7th, where benefit cheques, normally sent through the mail, will be available for pick up.

The WCB will call benefit recipients to let them know their cheque is at the centre and awaiting pick up.

Ads will also run on June 7 in the province’s two main daily papers.

People with questions are encouraged to visit the WCB’s website wcb.ns.ca. or to call toll-free 1-800-870-3331.

FOR LOCAL RADIO USE:

Due to the rotating strikes at Canada Post, the WCB has made alternate plans to ensure workers continue to receive their benefit payments.
