Centralized Surgical Services Program (CSSP)

For health care providers—there is a pathway to faster access to non-urgent surgical care.

What it is

The Centralized Surgical Services Program (CSSP) offers faster access to select non-emergency surgical and related services by using available capacity in the public health-care system. CSSP is for patients who may need procedures such as general surgery (including hernias), orthopedic surgery, carpal tunnel surgery, spinal consults, ear procedures, or plastic surgery. (Eye consults/surgeries and spinal surgeries are not included.)

The program is designed to reduce wait times and coordinate care so workers can recover and return to work sooner.

When to use it

  • Your patient has a WCB claim
  • They need non-urgent surgery or an in-scope diagnostic service or surgical consult
  • The surgical consult is directly related to the workplace injury
  • The worker is in time loss, on transitional duties, or at risk of time loss due to surgical wait times

How to refer

All referrals are made through the OceanMD online eReferral platform.

If a service is not in scope for the CCSP

If a service is not in scope, and you are uncertain which pathway to use, contact your patient’s WCB case worker.
