Ways to open a claim

  • By phone with a Client Care Navigator: 1-833-491-8889 or 902-491-8888. If we can’t answer right away, leave a confidential voicemail—we usually return calls within 1 hour.
  • With your employer: Completing an injury report together with your employer through WCB MyAccount is the fastest way to get a claim started. We understand this is not always possible depending on your situation.
  • Through your physician: Your physician can submit a report to WCB to start your claim.

What to expect when you start

Client Care Navigators are trained to support people with psychological injury. As part of opening a claim, a client care navigator will speak with both you and your employer. They will help you understand the process, connect you with other team members as needed, and keep you updated on next steps.

Contacting your employer

Without your consent, a care navigator will not contact your employer until you decide to move forward with a claim. After a claim has been opened, your employer must be contacted.

Sharing your story

It’s important to know that a client care navigator will need to ask you some questions to get your claim started. You will need to share some basic information, and you are welcome to share more. However, this is not the stage where we need all the necessary information to make a claim decision.  Later in the process, an eligibility specialist or case manager will need to gather all of the details about your experience.
