April Performance Update

Employers and workers in Nova Scotia have shown us that they're serious about workplace safety and return to work. Their commitment is driving better outcomes for our workforce. In April, we saw our lowest-ever rate of days lost to work-related injury – meaning people are recovering sooner and staying connected to work following an injury.

This progress is built on:

  • Partnering with industry through the Safer Workplaces Together action plan to prevent injuries
  • Connecting workers to coordinated, consistent care so they recover faster
  • Investing in our teams to improve how we support every claim
  • Working closely with our largest employers so people get back to work — and their lives — sooner

"Every improvement speaks to a shared commitment to making workplaces safer in our province," says Matt Ross, Director, Employer Performance. "It comes from employers strengthening safety practices, our teams improving how we support recovery, and partners coming together to prevent injuries before they happen."

While we’re proud of our collective results, there’s more work to do. For example, on average, Nova Scotians hurt on the job are still more likely to be off the job for the long term than in other parts of Canada – far too often for many years, sometimes even forever. It’s one of the next challenges we’re tackling, as we protect the workforce toward 2030, by keeping Nova Scotians working.
