Our June performance results show continued progress protecting Nova Scotians from the impact of workplace injury.
The time-loss injury rate continues to decline. Just 1.15 Nova Scotians of every 100 we cover are hurt seriously enough to lose three or more days of work. It’s a new low, and it meets our 2030 goal three and half years ahead of schedule. When they do get hurt, more of those Nova Scotians are staying connected to work and recovering sooner.
Of course, there’s still work to do. People are off work longer overall than in other parts of Canada, and more of them go on to long-term benefits. That’s what we’re focused on now.
We’re also contacting people earlier, paying people faster and making better decisions earlier. That means less uncertainty during a stressful time.
And 2027 will bring better benefits for workers, with more affordable WCB premiums for Nova Scotia’s hard-working employers.
“These results reflect the commitment of our employees and partners and show how strong financial stewardship leads to better outcomes for those we serve,” says Maureen Boyd, Chief Financial and Risk Officer.
“The progress we've made has led us to the first employer rate reduction in a generation, while supporting enhanced worker benefits beginning in the new year."
We're delivering a better WCB today, while building a stronger workers' compensation system for tomorrow.
