Congratulations to our Vice President of Prevention and Employer Engagement, Tracey Newman, on being named one of Canadian Occupational Safety’s Top Women in Safety for 2026.

The annual recognition highlights leaders across the country who are advancing health and safety through innovation, leadership, and a deep commitment to protecting workers.

“Safety starts with people, is guided by evidence, and succeeds through collaboration, says Tracey. “None of us can create safer workplaces alone – our strength is in the system we build together. I’m honoured to be recognized alongside so many incredible women who are shaping the future of safety.”

Tracey continues to challenge the status quo while championing stronger partnerships in prevention and return to work. In the past year alone, she helped lead major initiatives including the inaugural Leadership in Focus event, the introduction of Duty to Cooperate legislation, the Safer Workplaces Together action plan, and a new service model supporting some of Nova Scotia’s largest employers.

“In just the first eight months of 2025, Tracey’s team of eight achieved a 20% reduction in workplace accidents across these 25 employers, says Shelly Dauphinee, Chief Engagement Officer. “That means 300 more Nova Scotians went home safely to their families at the end of the day compared to the previous year – a tangible, human outcome that underscores the power of her approach. In just one year, Tracey has redefined what prevention can look like in Nova Scotia. She is not only shaping safer workplaces – she is building a stronger, more collaborative safety culture that will protect Nova Scotians for generations to come.”

We’re proud to see Tracey recognized alongside so many inspiring leaders across Canada.
