About

Steve Ashton is the Vice-President People & Organization Development at the IWK Health Centre.  Prior to the IWK, he spent seven years in HR leadership roles with Bell Aliant, and twelve years in executive search.  He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hon) in Psychology and Masters in Business Administration from Dalhousie University.  He also completed Harvard University's program on Leading Change and Organizational Renewal. Steve is strongly committed to advancing human resources practices that contribute to safe, healthy and engaged work environments.  He is the current Past President of the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources - Nova Scotia (CPHR NS), and teaches part-time in Dalhousie's Masters of Health Administration Program.

Steve also sits on the Advisory Committee of Emerging Health Leaders – NS, and has previously served on the boards of Discovery Centre, Techsploration and Shad Valley.

“As a Human Resources professional, I am fully committed to ensuring our workplaces are safe, healthy and supportive environments.  That requires us to adopt a strong safety culture across this province – no matter what role we find ourselves in our communities.  We are making progress, but still have much to do. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Board and across the province, to make a meaningful difference.”
