Captains and crews reminded to wear PFDs during spring fishing season (May 12/23)

Visit worksafeforlife.caWith the spring fishing season underway in the northeastern part of Nova Scotia, captains and crews are being reminded to ensure safety remains the number one priority on every vessel.

As part of our efforts to remind fishers to keep safety top of mind all season long, WCB Nova Scotia, the Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration, FishSafe NS, the Nova Scotia Fisheries Sector Council, and many other safety partners are once again running a safety awareness campaign.

This year’s awareness campaign started on May 8 with radio ads in May and digital ads that run until early-July spanning the bulk of the spring season to remind captains, crew and families of the importance of wearing a PFD while on or near the water “for the ones who wouldn’t know what to do without you.”

On behalf our safety partners, we wish all fishers in northeastern Nova Scotia a safe and prosperous season.
