‘New ways of working safely’ COVID-19 prevention campaign launched (Apr 14/20)

A new social marketing campaign aims to help workers and employers adapt to new ways of working safely during the COVID-19 pandemic. The campaign was developed by WCB Nova Scotia in partnership with the Department of Labour and Advanced Education (LAE), and in connection with Public Health leaders.

The campaign takes an industry-by-industry approach to best practice when it comes to reducing the spread of COVID-19 in workplaces. It also connects workers and employers to an expanded COVID-19 prevention section on the joint WCB-LAE social marketing website at worksafeforlife.ca/covid19, where they can find more helpful prevention tools and resources.

“We appreciate and want to support the health and safety of all working Nova Scotians, and especially those whose work puts them at higher risk of coming into contact with COVID-19,” says WCB CEO Stuart MacLean. “This campaign helps to reinforce the prevention practices that workers and employers need to keep top of mind in order to safely provide the services and supports that we all depend on.”

Starting with PSA-style radio spots, the campaign targets high-risk industries – construction, retail, health care, manufacturing, trucking and transport, as well as the general public. The goal is to support workers, employers, and customers, by providing information to help them work and interact with others safely during the pandemic. Future tactics may include animated videos for TV and online, along with digital and social media promotion.
