Safety Services NS Hybrid Conference Set for April 11-12 (Apr. 4/22)

Nova Scotia’s largest gathering of workplace health and safety presenters and professionals is back in 2022, with an option for in-person attendance for the first time since 2019. The SSNS Annual Conference will be hosted at the Prince George Hotel in Halifax on Monday, April 11 and Tuesday, April 12. The conference was cancelled in 2020, and offered only virtual attendance in 2021.

The conference program features internationally-recognized diversity and inclusion keynote Buhle Damini, mental health and resilience expert Dr. Jackie Kinley, and international safety consultant Eldeen Pozniak. It also includes a presentation from Threads of Life speaker Paulette Raymond, who lost her brother Tommy Raymond to a workplace tragedy in 2009. Breakout sessions include topics like proactive prevention, workplace psychological safety, building safety culture, ergonomics, hazard assessment and more. WCB Nova Scotia Relationship Manager Marc DesRoches will lead a breakout session on mental health and wellness during return to work.

Trade show exhibitors, including WCB Nova Scotia, will welcome conference delegates in the Terrace Dining Room at the Prince George Hotel. All of the breakout sessions will happen at the Prince George too. Plenary activities, including all of the conference keynotes, will be hosted at the Grafton Conner complex, with access via the Grafton Street entrance. WCB Nova Scotia CEO Stuart MacLean will also be on hand to deliver remarks to start off the conference’s second day.

Virtual attendees will be able to log in to all of the plenary sessions, and the breakout sessions they want to see. They can also visit a virtual exhibit hall and download materials posted there by conference exhibitors.

Conference registration is still open for virtual attendance. For more information, visit the SSNS 2022 Conference Website.
