Virtual PMIs now available for straightforward assessments (June 24/21)

Nova Scotians injured on the job that have been waiting for a Permanent Medical Impairment (PMI) assessment in Halifax or Sydney may have the option of seeing a PMI doctor sooner from the comfort of their home with the introduction of virtual PMI assessments.

Conducted securely, privately, and confidentially leveraging Microsoft Teams, this new approach is approved for suitable candidates with a straightforward injury assessment, at the discretion of the PMI doctor and only with agreement from the worker.

Like an in-person PMI, the PMI doctor will carry out the assessment during the appointment time – it will not be recorded or stored.

The introduction of virtual PMI assessments via real-time video conference is another example of WCB Nova Scotia adapting to better serve our stakeholders, supporting safe and timely return to the workplace.
