After five years of service, Saeed El-Darahali will complete his term as Chair of our Board of Directors on November 6, 2026. The Honourable Nolan Young, Minister of the Department of Labour, Skills, and Immigration, recognized Saeed today at Province House.
Saeed joined the Board in 2021 with the conviction that WCB could do more for workers and employers.
Under Saeed’s leadership, the Board developed WCB’s 2024-2030 Protect More Strategic Plan that set out how WCB will support safer workplaces, safe and timely return to work for Nova Scotians, and a workers' compensation system more sustainable and responsive to the people who need it.
Under his leadership as Chair, and through years of work across the Board, leadership, staff, employers, workers, and partners, WCB has:
- Reached a strong, sustainable financial position
- Delivered the first employer rate cut in a generation, a 15 per cent reduction that returned $75 million to the Nova Scotia economy
- Introduced full CPI indexing of benefits for workers and their families, along with other benefit improvements
- Supported workers and employers to become a national leader in injury prevention, with the lowest rate of time-loss injury in Nova Scotia
Thank you, Saeed, for driving change on behalf of Nova Scotians.
The Province will announce the incoming Board Chair as part of its appointment process.
