July Performance Update

A return to work after years of recovery, when it didn’t seem possible. A new career when someone can't return to the job they once loved. Conversations that uncover barriers and open new futures.

These are the stories behind our July performance results.

Fewer Nova Scotians are getting hurt on the job, and when they do, they're getting timely support and recovering sooner. Our July results show these outcomes as we continue to meet and exceed many of our 2026 goals.

But we also know we still need to do better. Nova Scotians are still more likely to be off work long-term after an injury than other Canadians.

That's why we're changing how we support people facing a longer recovery. We've retrained our case workers, updated our vocational rehabilitation policies, and we’re connecting people to services earlier in their recovery, allowing them to build new skills and even new careers.

"Workers often feel stuck the longer they’re disconnected from the workplace," says Riley Keeling, Case Work Excellence Specialist.

"Our new approach gives us opportunities to address barriers and move forward. People tell us they feel more involved and supported, which is exactly what we want to hear.”
