September Performance Update

Nova Scotia's economy runs on people at work. And fewer days are being lost to workplace injury.

Businesses here are dealing with trade pressures and rising costs. What they need most is their people on the job. Each day someone stays safely at work is a day they earn their regular paycheque and a day their employer can count on them.

Safe workplaces are a big part of keeping our province on track. When someone does get hurt, we help them stay connected to work while they recover. For workers who have been off a long time, we help them find a way back, sometimes in ways they hadn't considered.

“Not long ago, Nova Scotia's workers' compensation system lagged behind the rest of Canada,” says Karen Adams, CEO of WCB Nova Scotia. “Today, our results are among the best in the country, thanks to ongoing collaboration between employers, workers, and our teams here at WCB.”

Our time-loss days paid per 100 covered workers dropped to 190 in September. That's down from 221 in January and well below this year's target of 213. While we’re exceeding many of our 2026 targets, we know there’s still work to be done.
