1-800-9LABOUR is a line you can call to get safety information or to report a safety concern you see at work. You can also report safety concerns you see in public if they relate to technical equipment (like elevators and lifts, fuel equipment and cranes).
Calls are confidential, and urgent safety concerns are prioritized.
The line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
When to call:
- You or a co-worker is at risk of being hurt on the job, or has been hurt.
- You’re reporting an injury involving a piece of technical equipment in a public place, such as an elevator, lift, or amusement ride.
- You have questions about a Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, or need help starting one.
- You have questions about workplace safety, training or prevention requirements.
- You have questions about licenses, certificates or permits for technical equipment. This includes elevators, lifts, amusement rides, fuel safety, boilers and pressure vessels, power engineering or crane operations.
- You have questions about occupational health and safety, technical safety, or related legislation and regulations.
If the concern involves your own workplace, follow your internal safety procedures first. Those procedures should include notifying your supervisor or Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
