Board of Directors Regretfully Accepts Resignation of Chief Executive Office Nancy MacCready-Williams

After 18 years, nearly a third of them as CEO, Nancy MacCready-Williams has resigned from the Workers' Compensation Board of Nova Scotia.

Nancy will become CEO of Doctors Nova Scotia later this summer.

The WCB Board of Directors, with regret, accepted Nancy’s resignation at its meeting on June 23, 2011.

During her long tenure at the WCB Nancy inspired many, and her leadership changed how a province thinks about occupational health and safety and return to work. Nancy’s leadership, charm, and unforgettable personality will be greatly missed.

The WCB of today is a different organization than it was seven years ago. The WCB continues to lead the evolution of a true safety culture in Nova Scotia, and remains committed to its strategic objectives.

Nancy leaves the organization at a high point, having accomplished, as just one example, six straight years of decline in workplace injury and consistent advancement toward the WCB’s operational targets.

Nancy will leave the WCB at the end of July.

During the executive search process, the WCB’s current vice presidents will fill the CEO role on a rotating basis. Stuart MacLean, VP Service Delivery, will be Acting CEO effective August 1, 2011.
