The 10th annual Safety First Symposium will be hosted at the Membertou Trade & Convention Center in Membertou, Cape Breton, on Wednesday, May 24. 

This important event brings together a variety of like-minded individuals who are all working towards making Cape Breton-Unama'ki the safest place to do business in Nova Scotia.

This year, panel and breakout sessions will cover a wide range of safety topics including trending issues currently facing workers and employers, women in safety, equity, diversity and inclusion, burnout, and labour shortages.  

Attendees will hear from speakers like Cody Ross, who will share his personal story of experiencing a serious workplace incident, and Tara Beaton, the keynote presenter who will speak about the importance of health and wellness post-pandemic environment.

WCB Nova Scotia is proud to sponsor this important workplace safety event in collaboration with the Cape Breton Partnership and the Nova Scotia Department of Labour Skills and Immigration. As part of the event, Dennita Fitzpatrick, WCB Nova Scotia’s Vice President of Prevention and Return to Work, will deliver remarks about the progress the province has made in recent years and the need for a continued focus on safety.
