Time-loss workplace injuries declined slightly in Nova Scotia in 2019.

There were 5,663 time-loss injuries, where a worker lost three or more days of work due to the injury. That represents a slight decline from 5,819 in 2018.

Overall, the WCB received 24,900 claims for workplace injuries last year. That’s a slight increase from 24,584 in 2018.

The injury rate measures time-loss injury as a proportion of the total covered workforce. In 2019, there were 1.67 time-loss injuries per 100 covered workers, down from 1.72 in 2018, continuing a long-term downward trend.
