Through a partnership with Medavie Blue Cross, approved prescription medications are available to workers with approved WCB claims at every pharmacy counter in Atlantic Canada. If the prescribed medication is within a worker’s formulary, it is covered automatically with no need for out of pocket expense.

WCB formularies contain thousands of drugs that are assigned to benefit sets associated with the nature of work related injury and illness. They allow access to medications commonly used to treat those specific types of injuries and illnesses. 

Workers are assigned to a formulary based on nature of injury/illness. This means what may be approved for one worker, may not be approved for another. A complete listing of WCB formulary contents cannot be provided in a user-friendly format, but you can find information on special authorization, the opioid and non-opioid guides, and other forms and resources here.
