Launched in 2013, the Practice Incentive Rebate for employers classified in the construction and trucking industries offers rebates, based on workplace insurance premiums, to employers who have received safety certification in the previous calendar year.
Employers whose health and safety systems successfully meet the requirements of a recognized health and safety accreditation program such as the WCB’s Safety Certified accreditation or the Nova Scotia Construction Safety Association’s Certificate of Recognition (COR) began receiving rebates of a percentage of their assessment premiums in 2014, based on workplace injury insurance premiums paid in 2013, if the employer received safety certification prior to December 31, 2013.
The program is being piloted in the construction and trucking industries, with the intent to consider a broader rollout in the future.
