Long-Term Benefits

When a workplace injury has lasting effects, WCB Nova Scotia offers long-term benefits and support. Learn more about these benefits and services.

If you have been referred for a Permanent Medical Impairment (PMI) assessment

In some cases, a workplace injury may result in a lasting loss of function that persists even after treatment has been completed. If your caseworker has referred you for a PMI assessment, it means an independent medical examiner will evaluate whether your injury has caused a permanent impairment. If the examination confirms a permanent impact, you may be eligible for monetary benefits

Financial Benefits

Following your workplace injury or illness, you may have received short-term financial support called a Temporary Earnings Replacement Benefit (TERB). If your injury has a permanent impact on your life and ability to work, we support workers with long-term financial benefits. Learn more about your benefits, which may include a Permanent Impairment Benefit (PIB), an Extended Earnings Replacement Benefit (EERB), or both.

Reviews happen when you are receiving EERB Benefits

WCB reviews your EERB to make sure your benefits continue to reflect your actual situation and ability to work. If there are changes to your income, such as a new job, or you start receiving CPP-D, please contact us. Learn more about Long-Term Benefits reviews.
