Benefits and Payment Schedule

Regular Monthly Long-Term Benefits

If you receive payments by direct deposit, you can expect to receive the funds in your bank account within three (3) days of the published processing date each month. Paper cheques will be mailed within three (3) days as well. Please allow a few days to receive it in the mail.  

For your convenience, the following annual calendar indicates the dates that payments will be processed:

NOTE: If you are currently receiving your payment on a different date each month than those indicated in the schedule above, you will continue to receive your payment on that date.

Temporary Earnings Replacement Benefits (TERB)

TERB payments are issued daily Monday to Friday (during business hours; holiday schedules are planned ahead of time). Once established, TERB payments are typically issued biweekly.

Medical Aid

Medical Aid payments are issued daily.

Medical Aid Monthly

Medical Aid Monthly payments (ex. attendant allowance, home care services) are issued on the 10th of the month.

Medical Aid Yearly

Medical Aid Yearly payments (ex. clothing allowance) are issued once a year in June.

Pension Adjustment

Pension adjustment payments are issued by the preferred method of the recipient. This includes pension adjustments, retroactive long-term benefit payments and lump sum payments (commutations). These payments are made daily.

Direct Deposit

WCB Nova Scotia offers direct deposit as a fast, convenient and secure method of payment for regular monthly long-term benefits, temporary benefits, medical aid and travel expenses. 

With direct deposit: 
•    There is virtually no risk of cheques being held up by third party mailing delays.
•    Your payment is safe from being lost or stolen.
•    All Canadian banks and credit unions make direct deposit convenient, secure, and reliable for their customers.
