Betty Jean Sutherland, Worker Representative

Betty Jean Sutherland was appointed to the Board of Directors of WCB Nova Scotia in 2003 as a Worker Representative.  Betty Jean is a member of the Governance and Policy Committee and the Finance Audit and Risk Committee.

Betty Jean currently serves as the National Servicing Representative for the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE).   She brings a broad range of perspectives and experiences to support her participation in the governance of Nova Scotia’s workplace safety and insurance system. 

Betty Jean was a member of the former Occupational Health and Safety Appeal Panel, and completed several terms as a member of the Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Council.  She is a former President of CUPE Nova Scotia, and a past Vice President of the Nova Scotia Federation of Labour. In addition to these roles, Betty Jean has also worked in long term care for many years.  

Betty Jean and her husband live in Westville, Nova Scotia.
