Rodney F. Burgar, LL.M., ICD.D, was appointed Chair of the Board of Directors for WCB Nova Scotia in January, 2016.
An experienced leader, Rod’s professional background is in corporate law, with specialization in information technology, corporate finance, and governance. He is a skilled listener, negotiator and facilitator, with a well-respected strategic approach to complex issues. He holds a Masters in Law from the London School of Economics. He also earned his ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors at the Rotman School of Business.

During his career, Rod was the CEO of a regional law firm, and he also led an internationally acclaimed, award-winning IT software start-up. His consulting work is now focused on corporate governance and strategic advice for senior executives who are leading their organizations through change and transition.
Rod is an active leader in Nova Scotia. He is currently the Chair of Innovacorp, Nova Scotia's early stage venture capital organization. He was the first Chair of the Nova Scotia Superannuation Pension Plan, and he also served on the Board of the Waterfront Development Corporation, where he chaired the Governance and Human Resources Committee.
